There's a lot to unpack in the story of Hagar. She was a servant woman, chosen by her mistress to bare a child with her mistress's husband. Once she became pregnant, the dynamics and environment in the home took a left turn, resulting in Hagar leaving the home. After wandering around for some time, an angel of the Lord approached her and sent her back to her home, promising that she would be blessed with many descendants.

Time passes and her mistress eventually has a son of her own and decides she wants Hagar gone for good, though her husband is the father! The father hesitates but eventually respects his wife's wishes and sends Hagar away for good. Now, Hagar no longer has the covering of an earthly man but is still covered by her Heavenly Father which is significantly more valuable than the former. Though she became a single mother, God stayed with her, protected her, and granted her the many descendants He promised through her son.

Hagar did not ask for this position, and though it was not ideal, she was still blessed through it. At times we are asked to do things that we aren't really comfortable with or excited about, but God has the ability to turn it around in our favor and for our good. He can acknowledge our pain, hear our cries, and completely reverse our situation. Remember this whenever you're put in compromising situations. God is always looking out for you.
