Deborah is the only documented female judge in the Bible. Talk about girl power! Her story is one of leadership and wisdom received from God and shared with others. As a prophetess, she heard from God a plan to free the Israelites from bondage; she was to lead the enemy into the hands of an Israelite army to be defeated. She was so respected, that the leader of the the Israelite troops did not want to do his part without her by his side. How wonderful it is to see a woman's strength and power respected by a man. To add to that, since the leader wanted her by her side, he would no longer be able to take credit for the fall of the enemy, but rather it would go to another woman!
 
Women have been seeking equality in society for ages, but if we turn to the Bible, we see that God will elevate anybody, man or woman, and call them to a specific purpose. Regardless of what has been denied to women by the world, God has a pupose above and beyond the world for each woman that no man can take from her.
